All Packed... Now What Have I Forgot?

The holidays are over, the sweets have been eaten and now it’s time to go back to reality and pack a suitcase for my return to uni. Alternatively, I could procrastinate and write a blog post on how to approach packing when you lack a knack for natural organisation.

For me the key is lists, Lists and tick boxes... then another list stuck to the door with last minute items.

Packing is always stressful for everyone. Personally, I try to write my lists in categories, this means that I’m focused on one area at a time and less likely to forget an essential item. For example, to get ready I will need a hairbrush, toothpaste, a tooth brush, deodorant and so on. Followed by make-up and then clothes. This methodical approach adds some order to the packing panic and helps me to see a clear start and finish to the mayhem.

When writing the lists I put the name of the category at the top with a tick box next to it and the same for each item listed below. Once all the items have been ticked and crossed off I can then do the same to the heading. As a result I know that everything in that category is packed and can be forgotten about. If I am really concerned I will put two tick boxes next to the item. One to show it has been found and put aside and one to signal that it is packed.

This is my packing routine but unfortunately, it’s not anti-forgetfulness. That is why it is important to stay calm grab something to drink, play your favourite music and remember, you’ve probably forgot something anyway so don’t stress about it!

Just remember to stay #dyspraxicandproud
